A Writer of Many Things

IN THE BEGINNING…

… And then I started writing.

I’ve always written. It is the surest way I have of expressing myself. Using words to give life to a thought, to evoke an emotion, to reveal a truth, gives me a sense of purpose.

I also really love stories - especially the kind with magic involved. Let me loose on some story idea and it is bound to come up looking like fantasy in some way or another.

One of the most potent forces in the human experience is story. We all have one, as individuals, and as a whole. My mission is to tell those stories, as many as I can manage, and as true and powerfully as I am able.

The thing is, writing is difficult - no if, buts, or maybes about it. It takes time, effort, fortitude and resolve. And practice. Lots of practice.

But, it is a journey well worth every step, with awe-inspiring views to admire and appreciate along the way. The pursuit of mastery is a climb up an infinite mountain - the goal is not to reach the peak, for that goal can never be met, but instead to simply become better at climbing.

Which means you’ve got to learn to love the climb itself.

As decades-long writer, who aspires to become an accomplished author, I am obsessed with this art, with this discipline. And as a result, I will ever be a devoted student to it.

The foundational lesson one must always remember is, “you can always grow.”
